All Advocates of Chimney Pots
My first thoughts of chimney pots was when I noticed
that one or two of them had disappeared in my home town of Leek,
Staffs. This encouraged me to write a short story
about the chimney pots of Leek to bring to the attention of Leek
people, the plight of pots. I realized that Leek is only one of many
towns under threat. So the idea of the CPPPS was born, “Chimney
pots preservation and protection society.”
A chimney pot is an integral part of the house's
architecture and once it has been removed the house loses something of
its completeness. There are interesting and outstanding stacks and
chimney pots, but plain chimney pots are not in anyway to be
underestimated. There is a beauty caught by sunlight and moonlight of
row after row of plain chimney pots, take just a few away and its like
a missing tooth. Please log on and add your name to the ever growing
concern of our heritage. Chimney pots need not only your appreciation
but your support. The aims of the Chimney Pot Preservation and
Protection Society are as follows;
1. To encourage people to value their chimney pots.
2. To illuminate the visual value the chimney pots add to the architecture of buildings.
3. A forum for information regarding the preservation and renovation of chimney pots.
4. A sharing of knowledge, where to find museums, photographs etc.

With regards to the Chimney Pot Preservation and Protection Society,
English Heritage says “it encourages a development of public
understanding of this often overlooked aspect of our architectural
past.”
